Workshop: Efficiency and Well-being

The Leadership Team in Mexico City of a German leading global provider of reinsurance and insurance-related risk solutions were so engaged and hard working that the General Manager feared some of them could run into a burn out. The challenges on the market were tough, and internal restructuring made it difficult to stay on top of all things. Sometimes it was hard to prioritize the workload. This was the picture the General Manager described when we were exploring exactly what the Leadership Team needed.

In a joint effort we co-designed a two-day workshop which covered the topics of efficiency (how to work smarter) and well-being (how to be mindful).

After the workshop the leaders reported the following shifts in their daily activities:

  • They were able to better prioritize their workload, separating the urgent from the important tasks.
  • They successfully maintained a strategic vision while taking care of the operational business.
  • During the workshop they acknowledged their strength of innovation even though they recognized how few of the good ideas were usually implemented. After the workshop they were able select the most important ideas on which they would focus for implementation.
  • The Leadership Team continued to use the practical mindfulness exercises in order to “disconnect” more often during the day and train their mind to be more aware of the current moment. They stopped being on auto-pilot and had new tools for reducing stress and regulating emotional reactions.
